Hyrox Pacing Plans: 90, 75, 60 Min Targets
A HYROX finish-time plan must budget all eight runs, eight stations and Roxzone time. Generic sub-60, sub-75 or sub-90 split tables cannot determine an individual’s feasible pace.

Start with the current race
Standard Singles alternates eight 1 km runs with 1,000 m SkiErg, 50 m Sled Push, 50 m Sled Pull, 80 m Burpee Broad Jump, 1,000 m Row, 200 m Farmers Carry, 100 m Sandbag Lunges and Wall Balls. Loads and wall-ball repetitions vary by division; event lap counts and route details belong to the athlete guide.

Build a checkable time budget
Use one equation: target finish time minus measured station budget minus measured Roxzone and transition budget equals the available budget for eight run segments. Divide that remainder by eight only as a starting average. Keep every component in the same unit and confirm that the sum returns the target time. A target is infeasible when the required splits are outside repeatable training results.

Set run and station targets
Measure stations under relevant fatigue and record Roxzone time from prior races or a conservative allowance. Build ranges rather than single exact seconds. Run targets should come from repeated mixed-session or race evidence, not from finish time alone, a universal 5 km multiplier or a claimed global average. Open, Pro and Doubles need separate measurements because loads and work sharing differ.

Use pacing as a practiced skill
A 2026 network meta-analysis found no consistent performance advantage for imposed fast, even or slow pacing over self-selected pacing in endurance time trials; context mattered. Another systematic review found that repeated task experience improves how pacing fits task demands. Rehearse the plan, note where execution departs from it and revise it rather than treating one opening-kilometre formula as physiological law.

Adjust for division and conditions
Temperature, hydration, congestion, equipment, course layout and penalties can change execution. Cardiovascular drift describes rising heart rate and falling stroke volume during prolonged moderate exercise, especially with heat stress, but it does not justify a fixed expected BPM rise or automatic pace loss for every indoor race. Use effort and symptoms alongside split data.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can finish time alone determine my run pace?
No. You must first budget stations and Roxzone time from relevant personal evidence.

Is there one best opening pace?
No universal offset is established. Test a conservative opening strategy and revise it from repeated practice.

Can I use the same table for Open, Pro and Doubles?
No. Loads, repetitions and work sharing differ, so the component budgets must be measured separately.

What if a station takes longer than planned?
Recalculate the remaining budget without assuming that an aggressive next run can recover the time safely or effectively.

HYROX® is eight 1 km runs alternating with eight functional stations. Total distance is roughly 9–11 km. The math looks simple. The execution is not. Because the stations sit between every run segment, pacing behaves differently here than in any pure running event. Going 15 seconds per kilometer too fast in run one does not just cost you 15 seconds: it accelerates glycogen depletion, spikes heart rate into a range that is difficult to recover from, and compounds across every subsequent round.[^6][^1] Repz recent seasons of race data shows that athletes who hold a written pre-race pacing plan finish more consistently than athletes who race by feel alone.
