A HYROX age group adds an age-based ranking within a division. Standard Singles uses the athlete's age on race day; Doubles uses the partners' average age that day.

The 2026/27 brackets

The standard Singles and Doubles rulebooks list 16–24, 25–29, 30–34, 35–39, 40–44, 45–49, 50–54, 55–59, 60–64, 65–69, 70–74, 75–79, 80–84 and 85–89. The first group includes age 24; it is not a category open to every child under 24. The participation minimum is 16 on race day.

For Singles, an athlete aged 45 on race day belongs to 45–49. For Doubles, use the average of the two race-day ages. A 30-year-old and a 40-year-old have an average age of 35, so the example belongs to 35–39. The older partner's age does not determine the group.

Check your registration details and the resulting classification. A birthday can change your group between two regular races. Do not substitute your age at the end of the calendar year for the specified race-day age.

Age does not automatically change the load

At a regular race, the division determines the standards. For example, Men Open uses a 152 kg sled push including sled and 100 wall balls with 6 kg regardless of whether the athlete is 25 or 55. The rulebooks permit Pro participation and age-group rankings in the older brackets at regular events.

Worlds is a separate case: athletes or Doubles teams in the 60+ age groups qualify through Open and use Open standards at Worlds. Do not turn that qualification rule into a ban on entering regular Pro races after 60.

Qualification and results

An age-group ranking provides context alongside division placing. It does not guarantee a podium or World Championship slot. Qualification follows the available places, licence-related allocation priorities and acceptance rules.

For Worlds, the rulebooks retain the age group in which the athlete or team qualified, even if a birthday follows. Check the confirmed invitation rather than recalculating an accepted Worlds category as though it were another ordinary race.

FAQ

Does HYROX® end its age groups at 60+?

No. The 2026/27 standard rulebooks list five-year groups through 85–89.

Can I race Pro after age 60?

The regular-race rules allow it in the older age groups. The 60+ Worlds route is through Open, with Open standards at Worlds.

Is the Doubles group based on the oldest athlete?

No. It uses the average of the partners' ages on race day.
