## HYROX® in one sentence
HYROX® is a timed fitness race that alternates eight 1 km runs with eight workout stations. Athletes complete the prescribed sequence while wearing a timing chip; a valid result depends on completing the course and movement standards for the entered division.

## The fixed race sequence
The Singles sequence is SkiErg, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmers carry, sandbag lunges and wall balls, with a 1 km run before each station. Station distances, repetitions, implements, loads and penalties are defined in the current rulebook. Older articles can become stale, so use the rulebook linked to the relevant season and division.

## Divisions and rules
Singles includes Open and Pro categories with age-group rules; Doubles, Relay and Adaptive use separate rulebooks. Loads and some procedures differ. “Same format” means the ordered run-and-station concept is standardized, not that every venue has identical walking distance, floor, temperature or layout.

## What the event demands
HYROX® combines sustained running with repeated loaded and bodyweight tasks. A small simulated-race study found high cardiovascular and perceived demands and associations with aerobic fitness, but eleven recreational athletes cannot define requirements or finish times for everyone. Research on hybrid competition is growing and still heterogeneous.

## Who can enter
Official entry does not generally require qualification for ordinary mass-participation races, while championship or elite pathways have separate criteria. Entry eligibility, age, adaptive categories, cutoffs and event terms should be checked for the chosen race. “Accessible” does not mean medically appropriate or easy for every person.

## How to prepare
Develop running tolerance, strength, station skill and the ability to combine them. Start from present capacity, learn current standards, progress total load gradually and practise selected combinations. No universal number of weeks, sessions, calories or benchmark time guarantees readiness. People with symptoms, recent injury or health concerns should obtain appropriate individual advice.

## What varies between events
The sequence and rulebook standards are standardized, but venue routes, Roxzone distance, equipment availability and conditions can affect experience and time. Compare results with awareness of division, age group, season and venue. Current records, participation totals and calendars change and should come from official live pages.

01
SkiErg
1,000 meters of double-pole pulling. This station rewards athletes with a strong posterior chain and efficient rhythm. It's early in the race, so resist the urge to redline.
1,000m
02
Sled Push
50 meters of loaded pushing. Bodyweight matters here. Lighter athletes face a proportionally harder effort since the sled weight is fixed.
50m
03
Sled Pull
50 meters of rope pulling from a fixed position. This station shows the largest improvement potential among returning athletes, according to Repz race data.
50m
04
Burpee Broad Jumps
80 meters of forward progress through burpees. This station has the widest performance spread of any, meaning the gap between good and poor technique is massive.
80m
05
Rowing
1,000 meters on a Concept2 rower. A cardiovascular station where your running fitness transfers directly. Controlled pace wins here.
1,000m
06
Farmers Carry
200 meters carrying a pair of heavy kettlebells or dumbbells. This is the most consistent station across all athletes, with the smallest performance variance.
100 m
07
Sandbag Lunges
100 meters of walking lunges with a heavy sandbag on your shoulders. Your legs are fatigued from 7 km of running by this point. Pacing discipline is everything.
100m
08
Wall Balls
75 reps (Women Open) or 100 reps (Men Open). This is the #1 time sink across all divisions. High-rep endurance separates fast finishers from everyone else.
