HYROX divisions determine the category in which you race and the loads you use. Race format, division and age group are separate choices or classifications.

Format first, division second

For standard Singles in 2026/27, the four divisions are Women, Women Pro, Men and Men Pro. Women and Men without the Pro label are commonly called Open. Every Singles athlete completes the running and all eight stations themselves. Open and Pro differ in prescribed loads; Pro is not a qualification tier that you must earn by finishing Open.

Doubles is a different format: both partners run the full course together and share station work. Its five divisions are Women, Women Pro, Men, Men Pro and Mixed. Mixed partners use the same prescribed station loads, with different wall-ball target heights for women and men.

Team Relay and Adaptive have separate rulebooks. Do not apply Singles or Doubles workload, movement or eligibility rules to them without checking their own regulations and event availability.

Age groups for regular races

The 2026/27 Singles age groups are 16–24, 25–29, 30–34, 35–39, 40–44, 45–49, 50–54, 55–59, 60–64, 65–69, 70–74, 75–79, 80–84 and 85–89. Singles uses your age on race day. Doubles uses the partners' average age on race day, not the older partner's age. For example, ages 30 and 40 produce an average of 35.

Age groups classify results; they do not reduce the prescribed load at a regular race. The rulebooks allow Pro participation in older age groups at regular events. For Worlds qualification, the 60+ age groups qualify through Open and use Open standards at Worlds.

Choosing and understanding qualification

Check the actual loads and movement standards before booking. Being able to perform the stations correctly under fatigue is a more useful planning question than treating Open as beginners-only. Ordinary race entry does not require a qualifying time, subject to the participation conditions and available places.

Worlds qualification follows limited slots and allocation rules. Elite 15 uses a separate 2026/27 qualification system involving a licence and points; there is no universal finishing-time cutoff that guarantees entry.

FAQ

Must I race Open before Pro?

No. Ordinary Pro entry does not require a previous Open finish. Choose a division whose full standards you can prepare for.

Which age determines a Doubles team’s group?

The average of both partners' ages on race day. Singles uses the individual athlete's age that day.

Is Elite 15 another ordinary entry category?

No. It has a separate qualification pathway. Consult the current Elite regulations rather than an old qualifying-time claim.
