Pulling a cable bar down to the upper chest with a narrow hand position shifts emphasis to the lats and biceps compared with the wide-grip pulldown.

The close grip lat pulldown builds lat and bicep strength for HYROX Sled Pull and Farmers Carry with manageable training volume.

Movement

A close-grip lat pulldown pulls a cable attachment toward the torso with a grip narrower than the user’s usual pulldown grip. Attachment, grip, torso position, range and load alter shoulder and elbow demands; no muscle is isolated.

Programming

Choose an attachment, path, range and load for controlled pain-free repetitions. “Close” is relative and one hand spacing does not fit everyone. The exercise is not automatically safer or superior and does not guarantee pull-up strength, shoulder health or HYROX® performance.
