Crunch

The crunch is a fundamental core exercise building rectus abdominis strength for HYROX trunk stability and posture across all stations.
Movement
A crunch is a short-range trunk-flexion exercise performed from a supported position. Abdominal muscles contribute to producing and controlling trunk flexion, while technique, range and individual anatomy affect comfort. It does not isolate a separate “upper abdominal” muscle.

Use and limits
Use a controlled, tolerable range without pulling the head or holding the breath. Repetitions and progression depend on capacity and goal. Crunches cannot selectively reduce abdominal fat, are not required for HYROX® and do not guarantee protection from back pain.
