Fire Hydrant

A fire hydrant is a quadruped exercise that moves one thigh outward while the trunk and other limbs support the body.
Definition
Hip abduction is prominent, but pelvis and trunk position, range and resistance alter the movement and muscle contribution. It does not isolate one gluteal muscle.

Evidence and use
Use a controllable range and resistance. No fixed angle or repetition target fits everyone, and the exercise does not guarantee activation, posture correction or prevention of hip, knee or back injury.
