Muscle Activation

Muscle Activation — The process of engaging specific muscles to perform a movement. Proper activation ensures the right muscles fire during HYROX® exercises, preventing compensation patterns.
Meaning and measurement
Muscle activation can refer to neural drive and resulting muscle electrical activity. Surface electromyography records voltage at the skin; its amplitude is influenced by anatomy, electrodes, normalization and task conditions, so it is not a direct reading of force, recruitment, growth or exercise quality.

Interpretation
Compare measurements only under a controlled, reported method. An acute difference between exercises does not by itself predict long-term hypertrophy, strength, injury risk or HYROX® performance.
