Definition and limits

Pronation describes rotation of the forearm that turns the palm posteriorly in anatomical position, or downward when the elbow is flexed. It occurs at the radioulnar joints through movement of radius relative to ulna and is produced chiefly by pronator muscles. The word is also used differently for foot motion, so context matters.
