Scapular

Scapular refers to the shoulder blade (scapula). Scapular stability and mobility are critical for overhead movements, pulls, and pushing.
Meaning and anatomy
Scapular means relating to the scapula, or shoulder blade. The scapula moves relative to the thorax and participates with the clavicle and humerus in shoulder motion. Elevation, depression, protraction, retraction and rotation describe movements; no single muscle called “the scapular” exists.

Training and limits
Rows, presses, raises and other exercises load different shoulder and scapular actions depending on technique and range. No universal “perfect” resting position or fixed movement ratio diagnoses dysfunction from appearance alone. Exercise selection should match symptoms, capacity and task. Named drills do not guarantee corrected posture, injury prevention or faster SkiErg, sled or HYROX® performance.

Focus on lower trapezius and serratus anterior strength, which are the most commonly underdeveloped scapular muscles.[^2] Use Repz to track whether scapular conditioning correlates with improved wall ball and SkiErg performance.
