Tempo Run

A tempo run is a sustained-effort run at lactate threshold pace — typically 20-40 minutes at RPE 7-8 — that builds the aerobic engine HYROX athletes need for consistent 1 km pacing across all eight race running segments.
Definition
“Tempo run” is an informal term for sustained, controlled running faster than easy pace, not one standardized physiological zone. Pace, heart rate, perceived effort and measured thresholds can classify the same session differently, so state the method.

Use
Threshold work can be one part of endurance training, but evidence does not support making every run moderate or hard. Choose duration and intensity from fitness, testing and weekly load. A tempo run need not last a fixed time or occur weekly and guarantees no specific time gain.
