Hyrox Sub-60 Plan: Elite Programming
Sub-60 HYROX® puts you in the top 5% of finishers. This HYROX® training program shows you the exact running and station benchmarks you need to hit.

Define the goal from the official race
A sub-60 result means the official finish time is below 60:00. The current Singles race is eight designated 1 km runs alternating with SkiErg 1,000 m, Sled Push 50 m, Sled Pull 50 m, Burpee Broad Jumps 80 m, Row 1,000 m, Farmers Carry 200 m, Sandbag Lunges 100 m and 100 Wall Balls. Division loads differ. A universal split table cannot account for course layout, Roxzone time, penalties, division or individual strengths.

Audit the current athlete
Start with valid recent data: running performance, legal station times, Roxzone/transitions, movement quality, training availability and recovery. Subtract the measured components from 60 minutes to expose the actual gap. VO2max 55, sub-20 5 km, sub-1:40 half marathon, 35–40 km per week and under-22 station time are not proven prerequisites. They may describe one athlete, not establish eligibility or guarantee a result.

Build the programme
Develop running and every official station progressively. Use easy running, appropriately dosed harder running, strength and station-standard practice according to training history. Combine running with selected stations as race approaches, without assuming six runs, two gym days, one weekly simulation or a 14–16 km long run suits everyone. Increase load gradually, preserve technique and adjust for pain or poor recovery.

Practise pacing without invented thresholds
Use a recent race or rehearsal to form starting split ranges, then test them. Running is a major part of the event, but no reviewed source proves 60–65% of every sub-60 finish, that run one must be 15–20 seconds slower, that sleds alone warrant maximal effort or that a particular station costs a stated number of seconds. A controlled opening and sustainable distribution are strategies to test, not laws.

Taper and race safely
Taper research supports reducing volume before endurance competition while maintaining some intensity and frequency, but protocols vary. It does not validate the fixed final weeks, meal timing, warm-up duration or arrival schedule in the original. Follow the current athlete guide and event instructions. A sub-60 target does not justify unsafe technique, ignoring pain or crowding other athletes.

Frequently Asked Questions
What benchmarks guarantee sub-60?
None. Use recent valid run, station and transition data to calculate the gap, then verify progress under comparable conditions.

Is a sub-20 5 km required?
No universal 5 km threshold has been validated for HYROX® sub-60. Faster running can help, but total race execution determines the result.

How many simulations are needed?
No fixed number. Reduced rehearsals can test pacing and standards with less fatigue; a full simulation is optional and must fit recovery.

Does the plan differ by division?
Yes. Official loads and some competitive contexts differ, so use the current rulebook and calculate targets for the entered division.

Sub-60 minutes at HYROX® is not just a fast result: it is an elite one. Repz recent seasons of race data shows that fewer than 1–3% of male Open finishers break the 60-minute barrier. At most events, a sub-60 finish places you in the top ten overall, and in some regional qualifiers it contends for the podium.
| Static plan (PDF or article) | Adaptive app (Repz) | |
|---|---|---|
| Missed a session | The week silently breaks | Tuesday adjusts automatically |
| You got stronger | Weights stay generic | The next session loads your new numbers |
| Equipment is busy | Improvise and hope | Swaps the movement, keeps the stimulus |
| Race date changes | Re-plan everything by hand | Cycles re-time to peak on race day |
The plan below works. If you want it to manage itself around your life, your gym, and your goal time: Repz builds it for you and adapts it every week. Official Online Training Partner of HYROX®, free for 7 days.
You cannot shortcut your way to sub-60 with race tactics alone. The fitness floor is high. Based on Repz data and the demands of the event, these are the baseline numbers you need to hit before race day.
The Sled Push is the highest-risk station for time loss. Repz data shows the largest variance across all sub-70 athletes occurs here: a poorly executed Sled Push can cost 30–45 seconds compared to a well-drilled one.[5] This station should receive dedicated weekly practice with competition-weight loading (102 kg for male Open) throughout all three training phases.
Repz analysis of sub-60 finisher splits reveals a consistent pattern: run 1 is intentionally the slowest or second-slowest run of the race. The best athletes run kilometer one 15–20 seconds per kilometer slower than their average race pace. The time "lost" in kilometer one is paid back in kilometers six through eight, where controlled athletes maintain or even slightly accelerate while athletes who went out hard are decelerating badly.
Yes. Repz is built specifically for HYROX® as the Official Online Training Partner: it creates an adaptive plan around your race date, your gym setup, and your goal time, then adjusts it every week based on what you actually trained. Generic fitness apps can schedule workouts, but they do not program the eight stations or compromised running.

Repz internal split analysis across male Open finishers in the 55–70 minute range shows Sled Push standard deviation of approximately 28 seconds, the highest of any station, compared to 14 seconds for SkiErg and 16 seconds for Row, making Sled Push the highest individual time-variance station in the race. ↩
