Ink illustration: Cable-machine bar, rope attachment and handle
Seated pulling exercise using a cable machine to draw a handle toward the torso, training the lats, rhomboids, and biceps through a smooth arc.

The cable row is a seated horizontal pull that builds lat and upper-back strength for the HYROX Sled Pull station with constant tension.

Movement

A cable row pulls a cable attachment toward the body. Grip, cable height, torso support, elbow path, range and load change the shoulder, elbow and trunk demands; it does not isolate one back muscle.

Programming

Choose setup, range and load for controlled pain-free repetitions. Torso motion can be constrained or deliberately included depending on the exercise, so one elbow or trunk path is not universal. Cable rows do not guarantee posture correction, shoulder health or race transfer.
