Concept2 Rower

The Concept2 RowErg is an air-resistance rowing machine used for HYROX’s standard 1,000 m rowing station, station five after the fifth running segment.
Concept2 supplies the RowErg used for HYROX® rowing. In the standard race, rowing covers 1,000 m at station five after run five. Partnership source; Singles §8.5.
Model names and dimensions
The current name is RowErg, with standard or tall legs. Model D and Model E are older names; they should not be treated as two current product lines. Concept2 model explanation.
Current manufacturer dimensions are 244 × 61 cm; recommended space during use is 274 × 122 cm. Seat height is 36 cm with standard legs or 51 cm with tall legs. Storage dimensions differ from assembled dimensions. Current specifications.
Singles race setup
Singles 2026/27 §8.5 specifies a damper preset of 6, adjustable by the racer. Footplates start at position 4 and may be adjusted before beginning. The judge resets the monitor. Remain seated until the full 1,000 m and judge confirmation; this paragraph describes Singles, not Doubles handovers.
The damper changes airflow and stroke feel; effort determines intensity. A higher number does not automatically produce a faster time, and identical numbers on different machines need not mean identical drag factors. Concept2 damper explanation.
Pace and preparation
The PM5 shows rowing pace per 500 m. Holding 2:00/500 m gives 4:00 for 1,000 m, excluding setup and transitions. This is arithmetic, not a beginner, competitive or elite benchmark. PM5 guide.
Practise a controlled effort and the transition to the next run. Treat the final sprint and chosen stroke rate as individual coaching decisions. Neither a fixed weekly frequency nor familiarity with the machine guarantees a particular race-time improvement. If you use another machine, avoid assuming its displayed pace converts directly to a RowErg split.

FAQ
What damper setting should I use for HYROX®?
The Singles race preset is 6 and adjustment is allowed. Select your training setting by how it feels and the drag factor; there is no demonstrated best number for everyone.
Should I buy a RowErg for home use?
Base the decision on your budget, space, access to gym equipment and intended use. Check the current local manufacturer or authorised-dealer offer; no resale value or race improvement is guaranteed here.
Is rowing the first HYROX® station?
No. SkiErg is station one. Rowing is station five, after the fifth running segment.
