Deload Week

A deload week is a planned 5-7 day period of reduced training volume (40-60% reduction) and intensity designed to allow full recovery and supercompensation. In HYROX training, deloads typically occur every 3-4 weeks to prevent overuse injury and enable continued progressive overload.
Definition and evidence limits
A deload is a planned period of reduced training stress intended to manage fatigue and prepare for later training. The published definition comes from expert consensus; optimal timing and design have not been established experimentally. A coach survey describes varied practice, not a universal prescription.

Practical use
Reduce one or more demands such as sets, repetitions, load, proximity to failure or difficult conditioning according to accumulated fatigue, upcoming competition and training history. A deload need not occur every fixed number of weeks, and it does not guarantee adaptation or injury prevention.
