A bodyweight push exercise used in HYROX training.

The decline push up is a feet-elevated bodyweight pressing exercise building upper-chest and shoulder endurance for HYROX Wall Balls and Sled Push.

Movement

A decline push-up places the feet on an elevated stable surface and the hands below. Elevation, hand position, body line, range and tempo change relative load and shoulder demands; it does not isolate one chest region.

Programming

Use a secure surface and a height and range you can control without pain. Greater elevation is not automatically better or a required progression. The exercise does not guarantee shoulder safety, muscle growth, pressing strength or HYROX® performance.
