Gait — The pattern of movement during walking or running, including foot strike, stride length, and arm swing. Analyzing gait helps optimize HYROX® running efficiency.

Definition

Gait is the pattern of locomotion produced through repeated stance and swing phases. Walking and running use different timing and mechanics, and speed, terrain, footwear, fatigue and individual anatomy change the observed pattern.

Assessment

There is no single ideal gait for every person or task. A visible feature alone does not diagnose weakness, injury or pathology. Persistent pain, falls or a sudden change warrant qualified assessment; changing cadence or form does not guarantee injury prevention or HYROX® performance.
