Machine Row

A machine row is a resistance exercise that pulls machine handles toward the torso; support, handle path and grip depend on the machine.
Movement and muscle contribution
Machine rows differ in chest support, handle path, grip and unilateral or bilateral execution. Pulling involves several muscles around the shoulder, scapula and elbow. EMG comparisons show activation varies across row and pulling conditions, so “isolates the back” is too broad.

Programming
Adjust the seat and start position to the machine and use a controlled range you can repeat. Resistance-training progression should match the person and goal. No grip, load or repetition range universally fixes posture, prevents injury or guarantees carryover to rowing, sled work or HYROX® performance.

FAQ
Do all row machines train the same movement?
No. Support, handle path, grip and unilateral options change the task.
Does it correct posture?
It can train pulling strength, but it does not guarantee a posture correction.
Repz programs your pulling volume based on your actual Sled Pull and SkiErg race data. Our engine identifies pulling weaknesses and builds the specific back work to close the gap. Start your free plan and build a back that pulls faster.
