Sled Pull Equipment Guide
Choose Sled Pull equipment for HYROX: official sled and rope specifications, model differences, dated prices, suitable surfaces and manufacturer maintenance advice.

The race task your equipment must support
Sled Pull is station 3 after run 3. Singles athletes pull four 12.5 m lengths, totalling 50 m. The complete sled must cross each line. Pull standing, not seated or kneeling, and stay inside the front and rear solid lines of the Racers Box while holding the rope. Keep it in your lane without obstructing others. Singles loads include the sled: Women Open 78 kg; Men Open and Women Pro 103 kg; Men Pro 153 kg. These are competition totals, not a prescription to start every training session at race load.

Identify the sled model
Centr supplies official HYROX® competition equipment. Its current Power Sled product page lists 50 kg and 102 × 60 × 99.7 cm. Identify the exact version: the HPS.2 manual dated 31 July 2026 describes replaceable runners and gives dimensions of 104.3 × 60 × 99.7 cm. Do not treat those as interchangeable specifications. Check the model, rated loading, plate compatibility and designated attachment before buying. A Torque TANK is a different system: its manufacturer describes speed-dependent magnetic braking and tow hooks. It is not the same friction sled merely with another brand name.

Choose the rope by specification
The current Centr Competition Power Rope page lists 38 mm diameter, 15 m length, Dacron polyester, polyethylene end grips and a steel attachment hook. That contradicts a universal requirement for a self-tensioning rope channel or a handle-free 44–50 mm rope. There is a document difference to check before ordering: the older HBR manual dated 28 December 2023 lists 38 mm × 12 m. Ask the seller to confirm the delivered model and length. Do not buy a thicker rope on the assumption that it must reproduce competition better, or attach a long rope to any cable machine without checking compatibility.

Check the surface and space
Centr describes its competition sled as designed for HYROX® turf. A claim that every race uses identical 8–10 mm rubber tiles is not an adequate buying specification. Follow the equipment and flooring manufacturers’ requirements for the exact combination. NSCA coaching guidance notes that surface friction affects resisted sled work; it provides no universal conversion of 10–20% extra load for a home floor. Mark a 12.5 m working length if you want to practise a full race lane, allowing additional space for the sled, pulling box and rope. A 10 m room does not become a full lane because the rope is 15 m long.

Budget for the complete setup
On 17 September 2026, the US Centr pages displayed US$435 for the sled-only option and US$275 for the rope: US$710 combined. This is a dated example, not a complete home-gym quote or a euro price. Add compatible plates, suitable flooring if needed, delivery and applicable tax. Confirm stock, exact version and the final local price before ordering. As a planning choice, first check what equipment and space your gym already provides, then price the missing parts. There is no evidence here that every athlete needs to buy a sled first or that one purchase order maximises return on investment.

Accessories and alternatives
A cable pull, carry, pinch hold or supported hanging exercise is a different task from moving a loaded sled along the race lane. Treat these as optional training choices, not equipment that covers a proven 80% of race preparation. In particular, a pull-up EMG study of 15 trained adults does not establish finger-endurance gains or an equipment transfer ranking for HYROX®. Use attachments only as their manufacturer intends; improvised door, towel or wall anchors are not made suitable by matching rope diameter. For further practice ideas, read the Sled Pull grip guide.

Care and replacement
Use the manual for your model. The HPS.2 instructions call for drying the push poles after exercise, keeping the sled away from water between sessions, and checking replaceable runners for wear or damage; worn runners should be replaced using the specified procedure. The older HBR rope manual says not to use that product outdoors. Centr advises stopping use and contacting support when damage raises safety concerns, and rejects improvised repairs to structural or safety-critical parts. Do not follow a generic recipe to cut out a damaged rope section, melt the ends and resume loaded pulling. Likewise, do not file a load-bearing attachment simply because it looks rough.

Chalk and hand protection
Under the 26/27 Singles rules, only event-provided chalk is allowed, exclusively at Sled Pull and Farmers Carry. Own chalk, removing event chalk or using it elsewhere incurs the listed two-minute penalty. Gloves are permitted, grips are not; chosen permitted items must be worn or carried from start to finish. Unlisted items require prior written Race Director approval. For blisters, NHS guidance recommends keeping them clean and covered, avoiding the equipment that caused them until healed, and not bursting them or peeling the skin. Seek medical advice for severe pain or infection signs; no accessory guarantees protection or a faster station.

How much does a sled-and-rope setup cost?
The checked US Centr listings on 17 September 2026 showed US$435 for the sled only and US$275 for the rope, totalling US$710. Plates, flooring, delivery and tax are not included in that example.

Can cable equipment fully replace the race sled?
The sources here do not establish full equivalence or an 80% coverage figure. Use compatible equipment for its intended exercises and seek access to a suitable sled when practising the actual station.

Is a magnetic TANK the same as the competition sled?
No. Torque describes speed-dependent magnetic braking, whereas the Centr competition sled slides on the training surface. Choose according to the task and your space; no automatic race-equivalence or payback is established.
