HYROX finish line: the correct final race sequence

The final sequence
- Complete run seven and station seven: 100 m sandbag lunges.
- Complete the eighth running segment.
- Enter the assigned wall-ball station and complete the required valid repetitions.
- Follow the officials' instructions and marked route to the finish.
All eight runs precede their respective stations. The last station is not followed by another prescribed kilometre. Venue layouts differ, so check the athlete map for the route from your wall-ball target to the finish arch.
Complete the station before leaving
In standard 2026/27 Singles, wall balls require 100 valid repetitions in every division. A missed target or insufficient squat depth can result in a no-rep. Listen to the judge's count and completion instruction rather than leaving because your own count has reached 100.
The wall-ball specifications explain the division weights and target heights. For the entire course, see HYROX® distances.
Timing and results
The 2026/27 rules require the issued timing chip on an ankle while racing. Keep it in place through the finish and follow the event's return instructions. A finish-line crossing does not cancel missing laps, incomplete stations or penalties; these can affect the official result.
If your result is missing or looks wrong, use the event's results-support process. Note your event, division, start wave and athlete details, and describe the discrepancy. Do not assume a watch reading is the official time or that a particular backup procedure is guaranteed.
Plan the finish in training
Practise moving from a controlled run into valid wall-ball repetitions. Pick a manageable set size and take breaks before technique deteriorates. There is no universal set pattern that guarantees a faster finish.
For Doubles, stay coordinated with your partner through the final station and finish route. Both athletes must complete the race; it is not an individual sprint away from the team. Review the Doubles rules before race day.
Questions
Is there a run after wall balls?
There is no additional prescribed 1 km segment after wall balls. Follow the marked route from the final station to the finish.
Where should I wear the timing chip?
The 2026/27 rulebook specifies an ankle. Follow the event's instructions for fitting and returning the issued chip.
Does crossing the finish guarantee a valid result?
No. You must also complete the required runs and stations in order and comply with the rules. Penalties or incomplete work can affect the result.
