Same-sex Doubles describes a HYROX pair of two women or two men. The official divisions distinguish Women, Women Pro, Men and Men Pro, each with prescribed loads.

Choose the actual division

“Same-sex” describes the pair, not one universal weight category. Standard Doubles in 2026/27 includes Women's Doubles, Women's Pro Doubles, Men's Doubles and Men's Pro Doubles, alongside Mixed Doubles.

Both partners use their registered division's weights. In the order sled push, sled pull, farmers carry, lunges and wall balls, the loads are:

  • Women: 102 kg, 78 kg, two 16 kg kettlebells, 10 kg and 4 kg.
  • Women Pro and Men: 152 kg, 103 kg, two 24 kg kettlebells, 20 kg and 6 kg.
  • Men Pro: 202 kg, 153 kg, two 32 kg kettlebells, 30 kg and 9 kg.

Sled totals include the sled. All divisions share 200 m of farmers carry and 100 wall balls as team totals. Women's wall-ball targets are 2.70 m high; men's are 3.00 m. Other shared tasks are 1,000 m SkiErg, 50 m push, 50 m pull, 80 m burpee broad jumps, 1,000 m rowing and 100 m lunges.

What you can and cannot share

Both run all eight segments together, covering 8 km of designated running each. You cannot give extra running to the faster athlete. At stations, one works while the other rests, with the applicable handover rules. An equal split is optional.

Enter stations together, start only when both are present and leave together after the work is complete. The resting partner remains on their feet in the designated zone. Practice signals and a pace both can maintain; equal loads do not imply identical abilities or a guaranteed finish time.

Ranking the team

The registered division determines the relevant ranking. The age group uses both partners' average age on race day. The team finish time is recorded using the later finishing chip read; penalties may still be added under section 4.3. Worlds qualification has separate slot and acceptance requirements.

FAQ

Do both partners only run 4 km?

No. Both cover the full 8 km designated running course together.

Can partners with different abilities race together?

They can plan unequal station shares within the rules, but both must complete every run together and meet the category's participation requirements.

Does Mixed require changing plates between partners?

No. Mixed partners also use one prescribed set of loads. Changing plates between partners is not the distinction between the formats.
