Farmers carry is the sixth HYROX station. After run six, carry two kettlebells over 200 m, with a load determined by your division.

Distance and division weights

The 2026/27 standard Singles requirements are:

Division Load Distance
Women Open 2 × 16 kg 200 m
Women Pro 2 × 24 kg 200 m
Men Open 2 × 24 kg 200 m
Men Pro 2 × 32 kg 200 m

The load is per kettlebell, not the combined weight. Carry comes after rowing and run six; run seven and sandbag lunges follow. The course may require several laps, so check the event map. Doubles, Relay and Adaptive formats have their own rulebooks.

Carrying, resting and finishing

Move with both kettlebells, arms extended alongside your body. You may put them down to rest, but must not advance them while lowering them. Do not substitute a one-handed carry for part of the course.

Cross the finish line with the kettlebells, then return them to the correct marked box with handles upright. The station is not simply a timed walk ending wherever you drop the weights. Check section 8.6 for the full penalty protocol.

Preparing for the course

Practise picking up and setting down manageable weights under control before extending the distance. Include turns in a clear training area rather than practising only straight lines. Choose a walking pace that lets you retain control of both implements.

As an adjustable practice option, divide a short carry into sections with planned rests. Increase distance or load only when you can repeat the movement consistently. This is a training suggestion, not a mandatory weekly prescription or a promise of a particular race split. Record your own distance, load and rest time to compare like-for-like sessions.

See the rowing station and race distances.

Questions

Is farmers carry station five or six?

It is station six, after the sixth running segment. Rowing is station five.

Can I set the kettlebells down?

Yes. Resting is allowed provided the kettlebells do not move forward when you put them down.

Does 2 × 24 kg mean 24 kg in total?

No. It means one 24 kg kettlebell in each hand, or 48 kg combined.
