HYROX wall ball rules: valid reps and no-reps

Start, squat and target contact
Start standing tall with hips and knees extended and the ball in both hands. Do not pick the ball up and throw it immediately. Squat until your hips are lower than your knees, then throw with both hands so the ball strikes your designated target.
Contact with an arbitrary point on the wall above a line is not the standard. Use the assigned target and the correct ball weight. Women use a 2.70 m target; men use 3.00 m in standard Singles.
Catching, resting and restarting
After target contact, you may catch the ball and continue, or let it reach the floor. After a grounded ball, stand tall again before the next squat. Catching its bounce and moving directly into the next repetition is prohibited. You do not have to complete all 100 without a break.
In Doubles, partners share the 100-repetition station. Change by handing over the ball or letting it go to the floor. One partner throwing to the target and the other catching in a squat to continue is not a permitted change. The resting partner stays in the marked area under the rig without obstructing racers.
Judging and completion
A movement or target fault produces a no-rep; no warning is required. Complete 100 valid repetitions, not merely 100 attempts. Digital displays are a visual aid: correct movement, physical target contact and judge confirmation remain the official standard.
Do not generalise that every infringement only costs another repetition. Powdered chalk at this station carries a two-minute penalty. A depth box may be used at the judge's discretion; racers cannot request one or sit on it.
Use this summary with section 8.8 and its diagrams. See target height for equipment setup.
Questions
What makes a wall ball a no-rep?
A failure to meet the movement or target requirements, such as insufficient squat depth or missing the designated target, invalidates the repetition.
Can I put the ball down?
Yes. Reset standing tall before the next squat; do not catch a bounce and continue directly.
Can Doubles partners swap by catching each other's throw?
Not by a flying change into a squat. Hand over the ball or let it go to the floor, then start correctly.
